Free Self-Defense Classes for Women and Teenagers at UT Austin

In the last 2 years, Austin police have investigated several attacks on women who were running on or near popular Austin hike-and-bike trails close to downtown. Unfortunately, those types of attacks can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at any time.

The University of Texas at Austin Police Department is offering a free 12-hour basic physical defense class to provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. Read on for details.

Free Children's Books - Live Grow Play Austin “Read and Share” Program


Listen up, bookworms and Moms and Dads of future bookworms! Does your kiddo love to read or love to listen when you read to them?

We receive many children’s book review requests and just can’t keep up with reviewing all the books ourselves anymore. We'd hate to turn the authors down since we love books and we love to support the awesome people who help educate and entertain our little ones.

Back-To-School and School Supply Drives In And Around Austin



The average costs for school supplies every year is $35 which creates an extra burden for already challenged families as well as for teachers, who often spend their own money buying missing supplies for their classrooms and students.

In order to ease the burden of both families and teachers, school districts that are continuously facing tighter budgets, are trying to outsource the financial obligation by requesting that parents help provide  these supplies.

Free And Almost Free Movies in Movie Theaters This Summer

There are many reasons to go to the movie theater this summer:

  •     Bring a smile to your kid's face
  •     Carry the glorious title "Best Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa/Aunt/Uncle/... ever!" (at least for a day)

Free Summer Food Service Program - Kids Eat Free This Summer

Many children in and around Austin participate in the free or reduced meals programs at their school. When school is over for the summer it can be an expensive time for many families.

Fortunately, many schools and organizations in and around Austin offer a Summer Food Service Program where children age 18 and under can visit a summer meal site throughout the summer while school is out of session to receive free meals, snacks and participate in fun activities. Splash Pads In and Around Austin

Spring has sprung, temperatures are in the mid-70’s to mid-80’s. Warm enough for splash pad season, don’t you think? But, we’re not quite there yet. While the Georgetown and Round Rock splash pads open in April and March respectively, all other splash pads open the beginning of May.

Free Summer Camps In and Around Austin

Summer is coming...soon...well, in a few months. But, it's never too early to start thinking about summer camps. Especially when registration for some summer camps are already open and when they're free.

Free camps? Yes, there is such a thing as free camps. We've done quite some research to find camps in and around Austin (up to a 2.5 hr radius) that are not a financial burden to families, especially families that already have enough to worry about.

When I Grow Up Festival hosted by Partners in Parenting


“When I grow up I want to be an artist” has been our oldest daughter’s answer for the past 4 years. Her younger sister wants to be a “singing ballerina” and a teacher, at the moment. What do your kids want to be when they grow up?
