Many children in and around Austin participate in the free or reduced meals programs at their school. When school is over for the summer it can be an expensive time for many families.
Fortunately, many schools and organizations in and around Austin offer a Summer Food Service Program where children age 18 and under can visit a summer meal site throughout the summer while school is out of session to receive free meals, snacks and participate in fun activities.
Central Texas Food Bank
In partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Central Texas Food Bank is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. From June 5 through August 18, children ages 18 and younger can get free, nutritious lunches at 59 participating sites across Central Texas
Through the Summer Food Service Program, Austin ISD will continue to serve free breakfast and lunch to local children and teens ages 18 and younger, regardless of economic status and whether or not the child attends AISD. Participants enjoy meals without any registration or identification requirements. The Summer Food Service Program will be available at more than 50 AISD schools.
Del Valle ISD
Del Valle ISD will provide meal service Monday-Thursday at 6 campuses.
Hays CISD also participates in the Summer Food Service Program and provides free meals to children ages 1-18 at 5 locations.
The Summer Food Service Program serves healthy meals to children 18 and younger. The 2 Hutto ISD sites are Ray Elementary and Veteran's Hill Elementary.
There are no registration or identification requirements. Breakfast is served 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., and lunch is 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Leander ISD and the Texas Department of Agriculture are sponsoring a summer food program to provide free meals for children ages 1-18 years old. The program will be offered at 5 capuses in the LISD community June 6 through July 29, Monday through Friday.
Manor ISD will be providing free summer meals for all children ages 1-18 from June 5th-July 28th on 3 campuses. The meal sites will be closed during the week of July 3rd-7th for the July 4th holiday period.
Pflugerville ISD is offering free summer meals at 8 campuses Monday through Thursday starting June 10 (serving times are subject to change).
Round Rock ISD
Round Rock ISD will be providing a Summer Feeding program for all children ages 18 and younger on 10 campuses.
