The 75 Oaks: A Farm That Feeds, Teaches, and Regenerates — And Now Needs Our Help

A living classroom, a local food hub, and a sanctuary for families

Save The 75 Oaks
In the heart of Leander, Texas, beneath the shade of seventy-five majestic oak trees, lies a farm that’s redefining what it means to grow food, build community, and live in harmony with nature. The 75 Oaks isn’t just a place where vegetables sprout and animals roam — it’s a living classroom, a local food hub, and a sanctuary for families across Central Texas. But today, this beloved farm faces an urgent threat that could silence its mission.

🐣 A Family’s Pandemic Gift That Grew Into a Movement

The journey began in 2020, when the Tierney family gifted their daughter 17 baby chicks for her birthday. That simple act sparked a farming adventure that would shape their lives and inspire a community. From selling extra pasture-raised eggs to building a full-fledged farm, The 75 Oaks was born — named in honor of the towering oak trees that shelter their land and spirit.

Over time, the farm expanded to include turkeys, goats, ducks, geese, peacocks, and beloved beehives. It also grew into a regional connector, partnering with small farms from Liberty Hill to Belton to Elgin to bring high-quality, local food to families near and far.

🌱 Regenerative Practices That Heal the Earth

At The 75 Oaks, farming is a philosophy. Their practices are rooted in regenerative agriculture — a commitment to leave the land richer, healthier, and more abundant than ever:

  • Healthy Soil: Through composting, cover cropping, and zero tilling, they build vibrant, nutrient-rich soil that supports a thriving ecosystem.
  • Biodiversity: Goats aerate the soil, chickens break apart compost, and cover crops feed both the land and animals — creating a resilient, balanced farm.
  • Natural Pest Control: Instead of chemicals, they use integrated pest management (IPM), companion planting, and pollinator-friendly habitats to keep pests in check.
  • Pollinator Support: Native plants attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, enriching both the farm and the surrounding environment.
  • Seasonal Harmony: No artificial lights or additives — just nature’s rhythm. They embrace seasonal eating to nourish bodies and honor the cycles of the earth.

🚨 A Threat to Their FARM-ily

Despite its incredible contributions, The 75 Oaks is now at risk. The City of Leander has issued a notice stating that the farm store violates the city’s “home occupation” ordinance — a rule designed for suburban homes, not for a working farm. If enforced, this could shut down the farm’s store and jeopardize everything the Tierney family and their community have built.

This isn’t just about one farm. It’s about protecting local food access, supporting small producers, and preserving a space where families gather, learn, and grow.
